Art + Practice Year 11

Polymode designed Art + Practice Year 11 Catalogue and related swag.  The designs take inspiration from A+P’s educational and foster youth programs and initiatives.

Reflecting on their commitment to clarity and accessibility, the Year 11 catalogue embraces their signature minimalist aesthetic—featuring clean layouts, bright/bold images, and a restrained palette that foregrounds the artwork and programming. Bold section headlines guide the reader through essays, interviews, and program highlights. The table of contents and section dividers enable intuitive movement through the catalogue from Year in Review and Programs to Scholarship and Community outreach. To hone in on A+P’s mission to create space for inquiry, access, and community engagement, the cover features students with an overlay of the street map we designed of the Leimert Park neighborhood in South Los Angeles.

To reflect the organization’s deep ties to its Leimert Park neighborhood, we also designed a limited-edition swag set featuring a tote bag, enamel pin, and travel mug. The oversized tote features a bold, all-over print of the Leimert Park street grid—an abstracted map that doubles as a visual tribute to place and community. Overlaid in crisp white, ART + PRACTICE lettering wraps boldly around the bag. We featured the same custom map linework in gold on black on an insulated mug. The soft blue pin mirrors the same map motif in miniature form, spotlighting A+P’s location within the neighborhood. Durable and portable, these items carry the spirit and pride of A+P into the everyday.
