Inglewood Open Studios

Polymode was commissioned to design a new visual and brand identity for Inglewood Open Studios (IOS). Inglewood is home to a burgeoning artist community and the site of significant development with the recently announced Youth Orchestra Los Angeles building renovation by Frank Gehry, SoFi stadium, Clippers Arena, two Metro stations currently under construction, and new art galleries and businesses moving into the city. It was also the home of Polymode Los Angeles studio. The 12th annual Inglewood Open Studios was a moment to launch the new identity that could visualize the way this artist non-profit was keeping pace with this incredible growth with a design system based on concentric radiating circles. The visual vibration paired with colors in a range of values was inspired by poetic research that included cultural, historical, and immersive studies performed across the city landscape of Inglewood. The resulting brand-supported messaging for studio visits, openings, and workshops for artists and galleries. The tone of the identity was able to flex for new art audiences with family-friendly events, and partnerships with local businesses. Inglewood Open Studios enriches the community through exposure to local artists and art professionals. The identity encompassed overall branding for the event with a visual identity mark system, typographic palette, color palette, look and feel of imagery,  a printed map and poster, street banners, animated billboards, directional signage, blog header, social media motion graphics, and a tote bag.
